Spring Break - Take On the Open Seas

Spring Break vacations have come a long way since Connie Francis sang the movie title song "Where the Boys Are…"
beckoning students (especially the boys) to come to Florida. Today, cruise lines have found a way to entice students and parents into actually taking a Spring Break vacation together. Once onboard, kids and parents can get just enough space to do their own thing, and enjoy some quality family time together.

The Spring Break period usually falls sometime during March and April; however, certain areas of the country may differ. The Caribbean has become a popular cruising destination for families and many ships sail out of Miami, a vacation hot spot for parents and Spring Break students alike.

The cruising concept has gained popularity with families during Spring Break time because today’s ships are offering something for every member of the family, from accommodations to shipboard amenities.

Active families can relish in activities ilke ice-skating rinks, rock-climbing walls, water parks, mini golf, family-friendly cafes, golf simulators, basketball courts, and much more, depending on the ship.

But the emphasis on something for everyone doesn’t stop with the onboard amenities —it extends to the variety of onboard accommodations. There has been a huge push for family-oriented suites in the past several years. Depending on the ship, they can hold eight, ten, or even more than a dozen people comfortably...probably larger than your first apartment! They come complete with separate sleep areas, multiple bathrooms, extra space for stretching out and playing games, and super-sized private decks. All those little extras come in handy when teens, younger siblings and parents are sharing accommodations. Ask for wheelchair accessible accommodations as well, if you have a loved one with limited accessibility traveling with you.

A Spring Break cruise may be just the answer for your family if you are looking for a value-oriented and safe Spring Break solution.
