One of the most eagerly awaited ship launches of 2020 will be that of the new flag ship of the

P and O fleet, Iona.  She will be the largest ship P and O have eever built in their long and illustrious history and will carry 5200 guests.  She is also being hailed as the most innovative ship the line have built.  As with all P and O cruise ships, Iona will cater for the British market and have a very British style to her.  However she will most definitely have a fresh and modern feel to her.

One of the first areas guests will encounter on boarding Iona will be spectacular Atrium in the very heart of the ship.  The Atrium rises through 3 decks with a spectacular sweeping and elegant stair case linking the different levels.  The Atrium is bound to be the hub of activity with its lounges and seating areas.  A great place to people watch.  As with other ships it will also be where you will find guest services etc.

One of the big innovations of Iona will be her vastly expanded choice of dining venues, with guests having a choice of 15 to choose from.  As expected there are 4 main dining rooms where they can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner.  These traditional main dining rooms are found on deck 6 and 7.  One of the highlights of these dining rooms will be the Gala nights when P and O Food Heroe and legendary celebrity chef has designed and curated the menu for the evening.  Another hub for dining venues will be The Keys, here you will find a choice of dining venues including The Board Walk, a fabulous buffet with a wide choice and ideal either for a snack or an informal meal.  You will also find an Asian inspired restaurant called Fusion and a traditional fish and chip restaurant called Hook, Line and Vinegar.  if you are a lover of a good steak then you should head for either Keel and Cow where you can choose your steak from a dry cure fridge then watch as it cooked to your taste in the open kitchen or I would also recommend heading to the Glass House, the wine bar from celebrated wine critic Olly Smith.  There you will be able to pair your steak to a glass of fine wine.  One of the great things about The Glass House is that all the wines are stored at exactly the right temperature and can be bought buy the glass.  If you enjoy Mediterranean cuisine then a visit to Olive Grove is a must.   However if you enjoy fine dining you will love Iona's haute cuisine restaurant Epicurean.

One of the great things about Iona is her wide choice of places to just sit and relax or meet up with friends for a drink and chat.  One of the most stunning of these places is Vistas Café with its panoramic ceiling to floor windows overlooking the wake of the ship it affords you a spectacular and memorable view.  This is one of the best places to watch the sailaway in comfort.  During the day Vistas is a coffee shop and lounge, but by night it transforms into one of the ships 13 entertainment venues.

Entertainment is a major feature of Iona and there is a wide range of entertainment choices and venues.  The range from the production shows in the Headliners Theatre, where you can also see top class artists.  Other entertainment venues include the Limelight Club, which is a supper club type venue, where Adults can enjoy a meal and show.  some of the aartists rumoured to be appearing here will be the likes of Denise Van Outen and stars from Strictly.  If you are a fan of Karaoke you will want to head to Brodies which is to be found in the Casino.  If you are a film fan then the Ocean Studio cinema complex with it's 4 screens is sure to delight you.  You will be able to enjoy a variety of films from the latest releases to the classics.  Party people will want to dance the night away in the adult only nightclub 710.

With weddings and vow renewals at sea becoming ever more popular it is not surprising that Iona has a wedding chapel.  The Ivory suite offers couples a stylish, elegant wedding venue.  Did you know weddings at sea are better value than a wedding on land?

The Jewel in the crown of Iona's venues is the Sky Dome, a stunning glass domed solarium that during the day acts as a pool and leisure area.  Where you can relax, swim, or sunbathe but by night the retractable stage covers the pool and the Sky Dome becomes an exciting entertainment venue, with spectacular shows.  A great place to relax in the evening and meet with friends.

As you can see Iona offers her guests a great variety of experiences and her guests will have plenty to keep them busy and no time to get bored.  Whilst she will be a larger ship than many regular P and O Guests will be used to, the fact she will have lots of venues will mean that she will have places that have a feeling of intimacy.  Like many people I am looking forward to experiencing her for myself.
