Can you believe that it is 10 years since Oasis of the Seas was launched?  It was not only the largest cruise ship in the world at the time, but became a game changer that would inspire a whole new class of ships that would go on to build on the success and popularity of the Oasis Class of ships in the royal Caribbean Fleet.  To celebrate the 10th anniversary of this Royal Caribbean favourite, the cruise line has invested over $165 million to "Amplify" Oasis of the Seas.

So what is a Royal Caribbean "Amplification"?  Most cruise lines regularly refit and refresh their fleets.  This all too often is a tidying up, lick of paint and upgrading of what is already there.  What Royal Caribbean are doing with their Amplification project is going far beyond the traditional refit.  They explain Amplification as a "transformation", I would describe what they have done as a fabulous reimagining of a familiar family favourite and taking her into an exciting second decade. The Amplified Oasis of the Seas will incorporate some of the best innovations from her successors in the Oasis Class, blending them with some exciting new features that will probably be found in the Amplification of the rest of the class and wider fleet.

So lets start out on the deck, where there are some really amazing and exciting changes to be found.  One of the first things you will notice is that they have installed the popular 10 storey Ultimate Abyss slide that first debuted on sister ship Harmony of the Seas.  This white knuckle ride is a great experience that has proved very popular and I am sure will engage the thrill seeking Oasis of the Seas guests.  As well as the Ultimate Abyss there will also be a new trio of waterslides called the Perfect Storm, that have proved very popular on the other Oasis Class ships.  The multideck water slides are known as Typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell.

One of the major changes to the Pool Deck area that you will almost certainly notice straight away is the new lounge areas and a greater choice of how you relax including Cabanas, loungers, daybeds, hammock and even swing seats.  The pool Decks will also have new jacuzzi style whirlpools and the ever popular Splashaway Bay on Deck 14 will enjoy a make over including a Splash Pad for the tots, 3 waterslides for the kids, there will be pools, fountains and water cannons to drench mum and dad, or have a water battle with friends.  Plus there will be the first ever drench twin drench buckets.  For the adults the Adult Only Solarium has also been given a new look.

One of the main attractions out on deck will be the new Lime and Coconut Bar.  A 2 storey beach style bar.   here you will find great signature cocktails, cool beers, live music and DJs playing some great music.  It is bound to be a popular place to hang out and meet friends.

There are some very exciting improvements to the Dining Venues and whilst some of the most popular dining and food venues will still be found they will be joined by some exciting new ones that are sure to delight the whole family.  Children and Adults with a sweet tooth will love the addition of Sugar Beach to the Boardwalk, where you can choose from a whopping choice of 220 types of sweets plus an ice cream counter!  But be aware it is all at a cost.  One firm favourite from the Symphony of the Seas to be introduced here is El Loco Fresh Mexican restaurant where you can take breakfast and lunch for free.  It will offer firm Mexican favourite staples like freshly made burritos and quesadillas and have a salsa bar where you can customise your choice of salsa to go with your burrito or quesadilla.  One of the most popular of the new dining venues to be added is going to be Playmakers, a traditional style American sports bar that will American favourites like wings, ribs and burgers and it's famous cookie dessert!  Sports fans will love this Sports bar as there will be over 80 tv screens showing sports and a fabulous selection of bar drinks.  As well as the screens there will be table top games and classic arcade games too.  There will also be an Owners Box VIP room for private functions.  Playmakers Bar is definitely going to be one of the most popular hangouts on the Boardwalk.  Another new addition to the choice of dining venues will be the Portside BBQ, Royal Caribbean's first BBQ at sea.  It will serve a fabulous meat- packed menu, reflecting the current trend for BBQ, that is currently sweeping the USA.  Diners will be able to choose from classics like smoked marbled brisket, pulled pork, beef ribs and burnt ends.  There will be a great selection of favourite sides like cornbread, mac and cheese, coleslaw and of course baked beans.  To finish, if you have any space left, you will enjoy great desserts like their legendary Banana Dream or Brownie Mash Up.

Oasis of the Seas regulars will be relieved to hear that some of the favourites will still be found such as Chops Grille, Giovanni's Table, and Izumi.

Oasis of the Seas has always been known for its great variety of entertainment venues.   So it will be no surprise that there are some exciting new additions.  Among the hustle bustle of the Royal Promenade where once stood the Champagne Bar you now will find the Bionic Bar, where robotic barmen will create a cocktail for you.  While it is a bit of fun and interesting to watch, it is no faster than a human, and far less personal.  But still fun to watch.  Another addition to the Royal Promenade is Spotlight Karaoke which can be found where the On-Air venue once was.  There is a main stage and 2 rehearsal rooms where you can practice before your big moment on the Spotlight main stage. Another venue added to Oasis of the Seas is the Music Hall which first debuted on Quantum of Seas and is a great place to see live bands , cover bands and rock music shows that will have you rocking the joint until the wee hours or you can enjoy a game of pool on one of its tables.

The youth and kids areas have been totally reimagined and given a complete makeover.  Adventure Ocean which Is to be found deck 14 has been totally redesigned and now includes areas that are organized by activity type and allowing parents and children to use digitally enhanced technology to immerse themselves in activities and adventures.  The Teen Space up on deck 15 has been totally redesigned with a secret entrance to an adult free zone where they can listen to music, watch movies and play video games.  There is also an outside area where teenagers can relax too.

Over recent years Royal Caribbean has introduced laser tag games to some of its ships and these have proved very popular so it is good to see that they have included a new one on Oasis of the seas, called Clash for Crystal City.  In this exciting complimentary game you battle for resources.  Fans of Escape Rooms will be excited to learn that there will be an Escape Room style venue called Mission Control: Apollo 18.  The aim of this paid for game is for teams to work co-operatively on puzzles in the Command Centre in a bid to ensure the launch on time of Apollo18.

I think you will agree this really is a truly exciting revitalisation of Oasis of the Seas and will thrill her loyal fans as well as attracting some new fans too.  Now Oasis of the seas is ready to give her successor ships in the Oasis Class a run for their money!
